The Showtime drama is picked up for two more seasons.
August 11, 2016
Showtime announced today that Homeland has been renewed for Seasons 7 and 8. The two-season pickup is part of an overall 3-season deal that was just closed with Fox 21 TV Studios, which includes the already-announced sixth season. Star Claire Danes is confirmed to be on-board through Season 8, as is showrunner Alex Gansa.
Season 6 of Homeland will be premiering in January 2017, with the show's setting shifting back to the United States after taking place on other continents for the previous two seasons.

As Joe said below, this is still one of the best shows on TV and the naysayers have no clue what good TV is.

... I still think the only good things about this show were -- the Brody storyline (which they ran out of years ago), and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) being topless in Season 1. I catch an episode here or there and the story is just so repetitive since the Brody character ran out of steam. And, well, there's zero nudity after season 1. so..... But to be fair season 2 and 3 didn't really need it... now that it's a boring "cop drama".. add back some nudity and other things that NBC/ABC/CBA can't air to at least make it tolerable when you have to sit through it because someone else wants to watch it. This could, honestly air on Friday nights on CBS... there's nothing "pay tv" about it.

The problem is that they kept making it an is he or is he not plot line early on. After a while it got repetitive and lost it's appeal after season 2. This is the Glee effect. When a show becomes so popular in the first season that it gets a lot of views from its hype, thinks it's because of the story line, and continues doing the exact same thing. By middle of season 2 most leave and the creators get desperate to get them back by doing crazy stuff (killing main characters), yet try to keep the things that made it original and popular. By that point however it is old and out of date.

It's seems Homeland has just lost it's way. They have been stuck on repeating the same story line over and over again.
Unless they vastly change the story into something watchable, I just can't see myself continuing to watch it

You people are crazy! This show is by far one of the best on tv. It has gotten even better since they killed off Brody! The Brody and Brody family storyline just imo was killing the show.

Homeland peaked during Season 3. After that it was just downhill. Kill off 1 of 2 main characters and expect it to still be good? Lol. This was a terrific groundbreaking show when it started. It should have ended with brody's death in the season 3 finale. Too drawn out and repetitive now.

Claire Danes put me off this I did watch a few of the first series it was absolutely crap it was so boring I was surprised it got renewed then.
I guess people who watch this have a bucket near by so they can throw up when Claire Danes is on screen
