The talk show ends its run this week.
August 15, 2016
After a year and a half on the air, Comedy Central has cancelled The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. Executive-produced by Jon Stewart, the late night talk show airs weeknights following The Daily Show, offering host Wilmore's distinct point of view and providing an underrepresented perspective on current events and pop culture.
According to the network, the series didn't quite resonate with their audience as they'd hoped it would, both on its nightly airings and among multi-platform outlets and social platforms. At the end of the day, its ratings didn't justify ordering another season.
The Nightly Show will sign off this Thursday after two seasons and 259 episodes. Filling its time slot temporarily will be the Chris Hardwick-hosted panel show @midnight. A permanent replacement has yet to be announced.

Just another format for a black host to bash and blame whitey.

This really saddens me. Now I will admit that this show has changed it format several times and it was slowly throwing me off, but I still enjoyed the show. I wish it stayed more consistent and that could be a major reason on why his audience was fading away. So I see why it is being shut down, but I am sad to see it go. It has been great Mr. Wilmore.

Yes... he tended to be unbalanced on racial issues. But, Chris Hardwick show filling the spot until they get a replacement?! I don't know anyone who watched that show for more then a couple times before saying bye to it. BTW:Daily Show is hurting for laughs too, but I don't know if it's the writers or host. Stopped watching that too!!

The problem was he had no interesting guests. His comedy fell flat even to his audience, and no matter what happened around the world or in the US, he made it into a racial issue. It was refreshing at first, but then it was literally the same show for over a year and a half. Not a single one was memorable. John Oliver and Samantha Bee managed to discuss the same topics and more, and still keep it funny, informative, and awesome. They took the mantle of comedy pundits from Colbert and Jon. I'm happy they exist, and if Trevor doesn't start getting better writers, he will be the man who killed the daily show.

Not cool! This was a smart, funny show. It was not the run of the mill viewpoint and I found it very refreshing and frank!

Good, one less racist poisoning the airwaves with their bile.

So bummed. As a white middle aged woman, I appreciated the perspective the Nightly Show offered, which was different from ALL other shows. It's a real shame.
