Syfy announced today that Killjoys has been renewed for a third season. The good news comes a day ahead of the drama's sophomore-season finale and a year to the day after it was first renewed for a second season.
Season 2 of the Canadian-produced series has continued to perform well for the cable network, averaging 1.1 million viewers when factoring in three days of DVR viewing. The season finale airs tomorrow night, Friday, September 2 at 9:00pm.
Killjoys follows interplanetary bounty hunters chasing fugitives throughout a distant planetary system on the brink of a bloody class war. Seasons 1 and 2 of the show have consisted of 10 episodes apiece, though the number of episodes on order for Season 3 is not yet known.
Look for Killjoys to return in 2017.

I started out watching both DM and Kjs but dropped DM at the beginning of the 2nd season because there just wasn't enough action in it, and the new characters created are just too evil for my taste. This doesn't make the show a bad series, it's just not to my liking.
Prefer Killjoys for the fast paced action, the less evil characters, and the female lead role.
As for Pawter dying she is on another show, Good Witch, and there might have been a contractual conflict between the two series. Also, D'avin is on the series Code Black every once in a while, but the last time he was there was probably his last time. His role in Kjs is much bigger and I'm sure that's where his loyalties lie.

I love Killjoys. It's my must-watch show of the summer so I'm glad it's getting a third season. The writing is funny and fast-paced. And the story, although a little slow to unfold, has kept me interested. I was sorry to see Pawter die :( but I like the direction that the show is headed in for S3. Also happy that Dark Matter is getting renewed.

(I don't know who the other Steven is, but I'm the killjoy on this one. I dropped Killjoys like a greasy dog, after a dismal first season.)

I watched season 1 which they made a mess of. The killjoy concept is brilliant and its too bad the show was thrown together like a thriftstore pizza and hot dog. I don't see how a season 2 could recover, so this second renewal should be mystifying.
Dark Matter, on the other hand, has had a couple weak spots where they spent a little much time on memories, but otherwise has been quite enjoyable.

I love this show and I think it's a great companion for Dark Matter. But Killjoys is definitely the stronger of the two and I think it would fare well in any other day/timeslot on SyFy's roster.
It's a shame about the episode count this season tho, I hated how the two shows ended weeks apart and I was hoping they'd fix that this year. It's a really bummer too because IMO Killjoys writers have developed a cast and universe that seems to make the program really easy and fun to write for. I think if they were allowed, the writers could easily crank out a 13 or more episode season.

I love Killjoys. The only syfy show that is able to fill the crater in my heart left from the cancellation of Defiance.

Too similar to Dark Matters for my taste and didn't seem to go anywhewre so kept with DM and dropped this.
