The summer drama will air through at least 2018.

Just over a month since renewing The Last Ship for a fourth season, TNT announced today that it has ordered Season 5 as well. The post-apocalyptic drama, which is gearing up for its third-season finale this Sunday, has continued to be a solid performer for the cable network.
This season of the show has been averaging over 7 million viewers per episode across its multiple platforms, which has kept it in the Top 10 summer dramas on basic cable among adults 18-49. Today's additional season order clearly indicates that TNT sees the show as one of its stronger entries.
While Seasons 2 and 3 of The Last Ship were each 13 episodes in length, Seasons 4 and 5 will be returning to the 10-episode count that it originally premiered with in Season 1. Look for Season 4 to drop in summer 2017, with Season 5 following in summer 2018.

You are right. Get a very good show and it will switch over to government "BS" every time. I am planning on watching the next season if there a better story line.

I like the Last Ship and I am sad they killed off Tex. I'm really mad that FX cancelled Tyrant. I'm mad at NBC for cancelling Mysteries of Laura. ABC...don't get me started on that station. I hate getting invested in shows and they cancel them and put "reality" shows in their place.

After the end of season one, I was disinterested. Like most shows and movies, the original premise is great. However, once it does well, they have to keep milking it until the majority stop watching it. I watched all of this current season, it should have ended. Why? TEX DIES. Kill off this show like they killed off the best character. Chandler is a #whinylittlebitch who had some big send off the Nathan James. Don't come back!

this is just dragging on now it was all about finding a cure now the story has gone into the same old same old story line of an after disaster series each week they will get attacked and win and push more about government control....

Glad to see a "double-renewal" for this. It's must watch TV for me.

After they killed off the lead actress I wasn't sure what to expect but this show has actually got better without her.

I like the show a lot, and really like that Tex is back and Bridget Reagan is an awesome addition ... But ... the show really badly "Jumped the Shark" several times. It seems to have little, to no real direction. Hoping this new story arc at the middle of Season 4 will start to galvanize the plot lines mush like Season 1 and 2 had.
