It is being reported that ABC has cancelled Mistresses, opting not to renew the soapy drama for a fifth season. The summer series had just aired its fourth-season finale this past Tuesday. Ratings were mostly solid over the course of its run, though viewership in Seasons 3 and 4 was down somewhat compared to its first two seasons.
The cancellation of Mistresses adds to the list of summer dramas axed by the network in recent years, with programming in the off-season now shifting towards more alternative fare such as retro game show revivals which have been performing well in prime time.

Stupidest move ever! Such a great show ... And what a stupid way to end it ... With the whole Karen cliffhanger! Really ABC? I will never watch another new ABC show EVER again. So mad!

I will not watch any new shows aired by ABC. Whats the point? they will just cancel it once it draws you in. ABC you suk!

it's easier to do , reality shows. that's what they want and why people will watch daredevil or something on netflix instead. so they ax everything.

I'm sad to hear this - two of my favorite shows are cancelled while crap stays on. I guess those of us that like scripted shows (cheesy but fun) instead of fake reality crap are not the key demographic. Perhaps they should retool the key demographic to see who is making the money and who is defaulting on their student loans...

Another witty dramedy cancelled. What a shame. No wonder I watch more TNT, TBS, USA than network TV anymore. Just like Nashville, maybe one of them will pick it up and spice it up like the first couple seasons.
You networks need to step up your game. Viewers with disposable income are done with "reality" shows. We want to be engaged, to laugh, to be entertained again.

ABC keeps the cheepest shows an cancels the expensive ones. Don't ads help pay for the shows and operating expenses? Cancel Grey's Anatomy. The sow has cob webs on it.

ABC is one of the worst networks to get involved in a serious drama. They have no commitment nor do they seem to care about their viewers.
We will continuously see nothing but what amounts to cheap fillers for time Bachelor who cares or old game shows with has been celebrities who will accept any paycheck to have their face on the screen. ABC it's time to bring back Ti mmy and Lassie can't wait.
