Pop has ordered Season 2 of the new comedy.
November 2, 2016
Pop has announced that a second season has already been ordered for its upcoming original comedy Nightcap. The early renewal comes ahead of the show's November 16 premiere, which kicks off with back-to-back episodes beginning at 8:00pm.
Nightcap takes a satirical look at the behind-the-scenes antics of a late-night talk show. Ali Wentworth stars in the half-hour series as a middle-aged, overworked, and slightly unglued talent booker who must manage her dysfunctional staff as well as the myriad of demanding celebrity guests that stop by the show.
10 new episodes have been ordered for Season 2, matching its first-season run.

Tom is correct. Just can't imagine however why people are THAT affected by the cancellation of a television show! Seriously, git a life!

Sounds like The Larry Saunders Show but focusing on the Janeane Garafalo character rather than Larry. It could be good, but it is POP... so they are young and probably willing to take a chance on shows other networks pass on. And meh... don't give 2 hoots about any early renewals. Whether it's slated for 15 seasons before the premier or just a partial fist season makes absolutely zero difference to me. If the first 2 episodes suck I can ignore all the rest, regardless of how many a network has paid for. I suspect that's the same for most viewers and the renewal has more to do with advertising or locking down cast/crew than actual viewers. Of course, they must have high hopes... but they can ALWAYS change their mind after the premier.

Show sounds sucky and darn right I'm one of the "lame" people who's been burned too many times on cliffhangers and LAME abrupt cancellations. If your show is worthy enough of my attention, I'll hear about it in due time. If not, then bye Felicia.

Its because people are afraid to watch a show if it might get canned. Go read some of the comments of one season shows. People will say, "I won't watch a show unless I know it is getting a second season, I don't care about quality just length" not realizing that not watching is why it does not get second season. The network just say "Okay we renewed it" hoping those lame people will start watching. It cost the network nothing and the lame people will believe it. It means nothing. They can can the show at anytime. Basically it is the network going "Hey lame people watch this crap."

I´ll never understand how you renew something before it even premieres ?
