HBO announced today that Divorce has been renewed for a second season. The freshman comedy, which premiered last month, marks Sarah Jessica Parker's return to television after a 12-year absence since Sex and the City went off the air.

The new half-hour series has been a solid performer for the network through its first five episodes. Its average of 4.4 million viewers is at the same level as shows such as Girls and Veep. New episodes are currently airing Sunday nights.

In Divorce, Parker stars as Frances, a middle-aged woman who suddenly realizes that her current life needs reassessment, including her marriage. But with a family that includes two kids and over 10 years of wedlock, making a fresh start is harder than she thought.

10 new episodes of Divorce have been ordered for Season 2, which is slated to return in 2017.
