No back order for the new CBS drama.
November 21, 2016
It is being reported that CBS has decided against ordering any additional episodes of freshman series Pure Genius. The decision comes as no real surprise, as the medical drama has made little impact in the ratings since its late October premiere, and currently ranks as the network's lowest-rated new series of the 2016-2017 season.
Pure Genius was created by Jason Katims, known for past audience favorites Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. This latest effort, which follows a tech billionaire who creates a cutting-edge hospital to treat the rarest of medical mysteries, unfortunately did not seem to catch on with viewers the same way as his more-successful shows have.
CBS currently plans to air all 13 originally-ordered episodes of Pure Genius, leaving nine still left in its run. However with it being the network's only new series not to receive any more episodes, there appears to be little hope of it getting a second season.

It is being reported that CBS has decided against ordering any additional episodes of freshman series Pure Genius. Just read this report and they decided after only 4 episodes aired to not renew and there is still 9 episodes left to go. How is that giving a show a chance to get viewers! Why is CBS bothering to making new shows if they are going to cancel a show after only 4 episodes, what's the point in watching any of there new shows if they are going to cancel them with out giving them a chance.Just a waste of my time to watch a good show and have it canceled.

I am so disappointed to see this show will not be renewed. Finally a show that is interesting and thought provoking and does not rely on violence, immorality or sex to grab it's audience. This was my favorite new show!

Wow! I just saw they cancelled this show ... right when I was really getting into it. A drama that instills hope into devastating life circumstances...great move, CBS. Smh! Come on, man! This show needs to continue. There's way too much garbage out there. This is a show worth getting behind!

It's disappointing pure genious is going to be cancelled. It is great to celebrate people actually achieving something. We need More stories like this show. Why keep a dumb show like big brother which is about nothing. Dumbing down tv must be the CBS programming way.

I have enjoyed every episode so far. Who cares if it's "believable"??
It's entertaining and so much more interesting than most prime time shows right now. It's a breath of fresh air.

My husband and I love this show. Love the characters and the concept. We are soooo disappointed it isn't being picked up! The writing is brilliant!

Finally found a show I enjoyed and looked forward to. I think the select few of us who lean toward a different genre of media should have the same opportunities as those of the more popular choices. Maybe just a less viewed time slot or wave stream that caters to them. At least make them to be ordered or something. I don't feel every show needs to include canned laughter and people who are dysfunctional and inappropriately set at times so as to influence our younger society of its' same demoralizing values. Eccentricity and intelligence lend to diversity and a refreshing interlude.

Lowest rated of the NEW series - what about the EXISTING shows? We already know geniuses are 'different' (Scorpion) so that can't be the problem... where do I sign the petition to keep this on a little longer? I love the hopefulness, the possibility thinking, and the tech! And I love the interpretation that Prew brings to his character, and Mulroney's polar opposite.
