No back order for the new CBS drama.
November 21, 2016
It is being reported that CBS has decided against ordering any additional episodes of freshman series Pure Genius. The decision comes as no real surprise, as the medical drama has made little impact in the ratings since its late October premiere, and currently ranks as the network's lowest-rated new series of the 2016-2017 season.
Pure Genius was created by Jason Katims, known for past audience favorites Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. This latest effort, which follows a tech billionaire who creates a cutting-edge hospital to treat the rarest of medical mysteries, unfortunately did not seem to catch on with viewers the same way as his more-successful shows have.
CBS currently plans to air all 13 originally-ordered episodes of Pure Genius, leaving nine still left in its run. However with it being the network's only new series not to receive any more episodes, there appears to be little hope of it getting a second season.

I am disappointed to see this show go...television is overloaded with so called "reality" shows that have less reality in them than this show for Pete's sake. This show shows empathy, humanism, technical possibilities that are currently being developed or soon will...Yes, they take it "MAYBE" further than currently envisioned but maybe that is a good thing....yes, I do think they need to shows us a few failures because it isn't a fairy tale show....it is a medical show and therefore undoubtedly there will be losses. I sure wish they would give this show a second chance over a few others on the roster.

CBS, rethink your decision. This show is not just another medical show. It suggests cutting edge technology that feels more real than any "reality" show. The interaction among the characters is believable, especially hyper rich boy. I just finished watching Episode 8 or 9 (kidney transplant chain) and came to check latest show status and saw the announcement that CBS is cancelling it.

I am not surprised it was canceled because it didn't have any realism to it. It was the same thing...incurable disease, one in a million chance, zero possibility for success...wait..."we cured it". Real life is never that cut and dry

I am so disappointed in cbs. This is a thoughtful, entertaining show and by far one of the best the network has produced. Lets get rid of one of the backstabbing "reality" shows and keep this bit of hope in our day.

Reminds me of Three Rivers Hospital from a couple years ago. Of course CBS cancelled it after 1 season . Of well, it will free me up an hour. I hear CMT's Nashville calling me.

It is a shame you did not give this show a chance. It is a good show and shows some heart. I like how it brings 2 worlds together the medical world and the tech world. Kinda makes you think that maybe there may be hope for someone who they say have no hope.
