No back order for the new CBS drama.
November 21, 2016
It is being reported that CBS has decided against ordering any additional episodes of freshman series Pure Genius. The decision comes as no real surprise, as the medical drama has made little impact in the ratings since its late October premiere, and currently ranks as the network's lowest-rated new series of the 2016-2017 season.
Pure Genius was created by Jason Katims, known for past audience favorites Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. This latest effort, which follows a tech billionaire who creates a cutting-edge hospital to treat the rarest of medical mysteries, unfortunately did not seem to catch on with viewers the same way as his more-successful shows have.
CBS currently plans to air all 13 originally-ordered episodes of Pure Genius, leaving nine still left in its run. However with it being the network's only new series not to receive any more episodes, there appears to be little hope of it getting a second season.

They are cancelling Pure Genius before giving it a chance. I thought this medical drama was so refreshing and different than the others even if all the scientific miracles they were performing were pure fiction. It was nice to see up-to-date technology combined with medicine. Just a few weeks in and they haven't even given the staff a chance to jell. Pretty much the same problem with Timeless. Another good show they have decided to give the axe. Not everyone is into vampires and the living dead.

Another show that shows medical miracles and signs of hope cancelled. I suppose you would rather promote death and mayhem than a decent show. Air it on Saturday nights and watch the ratings soar. Hopefully Netflix will pickup this show.

Limitless, now pure genius. Wow you have two hits in the making and you dont even give them a second season to prove they are worth it. Maybe a different time slot wiuld work better for the show. I think it is different and brilliant.

CBS you are the opposite of Pure Genius, you are dumb as hell. I love Scorpion, but every single week the stories are more unbelievable, Scorpion is on what--season 4? COME ON!!!!
CBS--grow a pair and give shows like this one and LIMITLESS (still pissed about you cancelling that show) more than half a season to prove itself before dumping it.

I have now watched a couple and would like to know if anything is remotely possible even with fringe science. I would especially like follow-up on the "coma for no reason girl" in ep1. I do like the show and will watch all they air. It is kind of nice go have a show be worth watching even when it has not been picked up.

The cast just never clicked for me. All good in their own right, but failed to come together as an ensemble.

Wow. "suspend belief" should have been "suspend disbelief."
I am one clumsy broad tonight. ;)

"OMIN" should be "OMNI"

I did try to watch this show. A weekly thirty minute non-fiction medical show revealing the absolute latest in medical advancement and research would be more my speed. Personally, I don't need a story or sensationalism to appreciate new medical technology. I'm more of an "OMIN Magazine" kind of person. That brings up another problem. When watching a fictional story of this type, you don't always immediately know if they are using real breakthrough techniques as story material or if they are making it up as they go, in which case, one may quickly approach "Tricorder Town" and lose the ability to suspend belief. I do appreciate that the network tried a different spin on the medical drama format but we really don't need a hybrid of Star Trek and House. lol
