The drama will not return.

It is being reported that Showtime has decided not to order a fifth season of Masters of Sex. The news comes two weeks after the conclusion of Season 4, meaning the final episode on November 13 now serves as its series finale.
The period drama had a solid run on the cable network, garnering critical acclaim out of the gate and being named of the Critics' Choice's Most Exciting New Series in 2013. It didn't take long after that for it to become one of Showtime's signature series.
While ratings were never one of Masters of Sex's strong suits, they do not appear to have played a major factor in the decision to end the series. Word is that Showtime and the show's producers mutually agreed that with the events of Season 4, including the wedding of main characters William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the story was complete.

Well this is kind of sad and unfortunate. This was a great show talking about Masters and Johnson. Filled with drama, mystery and Intrigue. Lizzy and Michael were a great team on the show. I look forward to their future projects.

I liked it until it became not based in reality but fictional with children who were never born etc etc.
I would have watched a 4th season but this is as good a point to end it as any.
Now Lizzy Caplan is free to plan her wedding (NOT to Matthew Perry, sad face).

I was a loyal fan of the show but agreed it was time to end it. This last season was very tedious to watch.

Loved this show up until the last series which I felt was a chore to watch and when it ended I kind of felt like that was it. The final show did kind of tie everything up and I wondered where they would go from there. So this isnt a surprise.

I thought this year was actually one of it's strongest years. I really liked this show and Roadies (both now gone). Next will be "The Affair" because it is getting really slow.

Liked the show, but even by season 2 you could tell it was lost in the woods. They tried to hard to give certain characters a world they did not need. Sarah Silverman was great, but come on, who was the character and why was she there? The show spent too much time on stuff that it never took the time to make useful. The ending is probably the best thing for the show. You don't want to become a shell of an idea.
