The new comedy extends its first season.
January 11, 2017
Fox announced today that four additional episodes have been ordered for Season 1 of The Mick. The good news comes after a strong start to the freshman comedy, which premiered on News Year's Day before moving to its regular time slot on Tuesday nights.
The Mick stars Kaitlin Olson, best known for playing Sweet Dee in FXX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in her first leading role on network television. In the new series Olson plays Mickey - an overbearing hustler from Rhode Island who is unexpectedly given guardianship of her estranged sister's three high-maintenance children.
Today's top-up extends the first season of The Mick to a total of 17 episodes. While new episodes typically air Tuesday nights, look for a special airing this Sunday following the hour-long episode of The Simpsons.

I saw the first episode of this and laughed all the way through it, but I have not had the chance to watch it again. Very glad to see it is doing so well!!

Don't like this show. Hate the constant drug references and 4 letter words. Too crude.

Wasn't planning on watching it, based on the promos, but I checked it out and it is pretty funny. 3 episodes in and it keeps getting better.

Didn't think it would succeed. It looked like a flop based on the promos I saw.

So far I really like this one. It's actually had some hysterical moments. Looking forward to the rest of these.

I love Kaitlyn on It's Always Sunny but this show really isn't that great.

It is a rework of the Uncle Buck concept... but Uncle Buck had so many problems with very unrealistic characters. Uncle Buck went way too far to try and NOT offend African Americans, so far it sacrificed the humor. Clearly white people writing a black show and not wanting to upset black viewers. By making this a "white" show... they are free to show characters being more unsympathetic and less "holier-than-thou" overall. No one screams "RACIST" if you denigrate white-trash. I like Olson... I think she's better on Sunny, but this show, so far, is decent. Probably restrained a bit since it is on one of the big 4 networks. FXX gets away with cursing at times and more adult-oriented content in sitcoms.

@mike
This doesn't feel like a remake. That is why The new uncle buck got canned. Change a few things and give it a new name and nobody will compare them. This one seems to be doing good.
