CTV announced today that Cardinal has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3. The freshman drama premiered on the Canadian network earlier this year and has become the country's most-watched homegrown drama in the 2016-2017 season. The show's six-episode run averaged a healthy 1.2 million viewers.

The first season of Cardinal is based on the award-winning novel Forty Words for Sorrow by Giles Blunt, which is the first in his John Cardinal Mysteries series. Season 2 of the show will take inspiration from the third book in the series, while Season 3 will be based on the fourth and fifth books.

Look for Seasons 2 and 3 of Cardinal in the 2017-2018 season.
