The new comedy will return for Season 2.
March 23, 2017
CBS announced today that Kevin Can Wait has been renewed for a second season. The freshman comedy, which premiered last fall, stars Kevin James in his first leading role on television since his nine-year stint on The King of Queens. The series is off to a solid start in its debut run, where it has established itself as a reliable performer on Monday nights.
Kevin Can Wait stars James as a recently-retired police officer looking forward to having more free time to spend with his family and fellow-retired cop friends. But when his oldest daughter decides to drop out of college in order to support her fiancé, Kevin puts his plans on hold and moves them both into his home so that his daughter can stay in school.
Look for Season 2 to premiere as part of the network's 2017-2018 lineup this fall.

I really liked this show until you killed off the mom. If I wanted to watch King of Queens I would watch the reruns. Time for Leah to get her own show again. I know she has the one about Scientology but bring back Its all relative.

Kind of surprised it got renewed. It's really not that funny. Kevin James can be hilarious, but not in this show. And I agree with Jen, the wife is annoying. Not as annoying as Carrie was on King of Queens, but close. I guess CBS decided that declining ratings isn't enough to cancel. Wish they would have thought that with some past shows they've cancelled.

Jen shut up, the wife is a fine actress, don't watch, go take your hatred elsewhere.

I love Kevin James but please recast that wife! She is so not funny. She's just annoying.

While I like the cast, it's not nearly as funny as The King Of Queens.

CBS must be hurting. This show offers very little in terms of NEW content. It's just old jokes redone with a new cast. And sorry.. James as a cop... hope it was a desk job because he's not chasing down anyone.
