The baseball drama will not return for Season 2.
May 1, 2017
Word is out this evening that Fox has opted against continuing with new series Pitch, cancelling the show after just one season. Showrunner Kevin Falls broke the news on Twitter, posting "I'm sorry to tell you that @PITCHonFOX will not be getting a second season".
The baseball drama premiered last September as part of the network's regular fall line-up, airing a short 10-episode run that garnered its share of critical acclaim but ultimately failed to draw a large enough audience in its Thursday night time slot against some strong competition.
Produced in partnership with Major League Baseball, Pitch followed a gifted female baseball player who achieved instant fame after being called up to the majors. As a fish-out-of-water rookie, she worked to prove herself to her skeptical teammates - some of whom didn't even want her on the field.

Just based on comments here...... Apparently the fat, beer-swilling, women-hating, baseball fans didn't like this because it was too "unrealistic"?

I really liked this show. All Fox has on air is crap. I hate that they left it hanging. None of the networks give shows a chance for shows to be found by people. If they don't do great in two shows they are gone.

I totally agree Teddy. Can't believer this even got out the door. What's next - Bob and Jeff's Synchronized Swimming Spectacular??

Really Marc like who are they going to find someone white is that what you are trying to say. It was in a bad time slot and on a Thursday where it's battling football no wonder the ratings were down. It was a good show not great it gave it a shot and fail but don't say false reasons why.

I wanted to watch this, but I am sick and tired of getting into a show and then BAM they cancel it after the first or second seasons.

I can't believe this got cancelled, was so good and entertaining. What is fox thinking, agreed, lose the cartoons and some of the god awful reality shows.

made my week! or year! best decision ever.
For all of you who loved the show - check its network ratings. In all honesty the show was just a model doing sports and a run of the mill story. They could have gone with a "bigger" more realistic female lead but they opted for the sex sells variation.
So yeah thank you FOX ! ! !

I'm the LAST person on earth that will invest in a new drama.. .let alone a SPORTS drama. However, I liked this series. It was compelling from week to week and did NOT follow the a-typical network formula for a dram (and there were not cops, lawyers or doctors). Guess that knee ended Ginny's career.
