The reality series will return for Season 2.
June 15, 2017
ABC announced this evening that The Toy Box has been picked up for a second season. The reality series aired its freshman run this spring as a mid-season entry with eight episodes that brought in decent ratings for the network on Friday nights.
Hosted by Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet, The Toy Box is a competition series that features talented designers showing off their toy inventions to a group of experts who assess their viability. If their toy passes the first test, the designers then move on to a panel of kids who play with their toy and decide on their favorite. The winner gets the opportunity to bring their toy concept to life.

Let's see: Dump a good show (good product), and keep a failing show (bad product). From a business perspective that would be akin (I hate the overused work 'like') to dumping good stocks for bad ones. Anyone game for that? Shame on you, ABC 'A-ll B-ad C-hoices'.

Wow Last Man Standing wasn't even able to stand up to this? How bad was that show getting?

They cancelled Last Man Standing for this show...how and why? Clearly I missed something. I will miss the Baxters.

This show just proved how bad Last Man Standing was doing. They put this on and it blew away the crap they were paying a ton for. When a not well liked reality show can do a lot better than your comedy, you know it is time to end it. If this was a trainwreck how bad was Last Man Standing or Dr Ken getting?

I caught a few minutes of this show one night and I don't know, I thought the kids came across as too grown and kind of fresh at times. I know the point is to have them judging the toys and saying what they like and don't like, but the part I tuned in on had me thinking "Ok, but don't forget you are speaking to an adult though!" lol

Yeah ABC keeps this trainwreck of a show but cancel Last Man Standing. I am so done with ABC.

Well, this one is a shocker. the idea is there but the execution doesn't. i watched the first 5 episodes and i didn't see a single idea that was either groundbreaking or amazing, Oh, except the guy with the multy-ball or whatever it was called the pitching part is rushed and they give that part almost no importance whatsoever, also if you have watched this show i guess you already know that the asian girl (judge) works for Pixar because she drops that name more than a person with no fingers drops a soap bar at any single episode. I also feel kind of bad for Eric because no matter how hard he tries to separate his real person from Cam all you see is Cam from Modern Family. he is gonna need a buttload of new shows and projects to get rid of that character. he does a nice job nonetheless. anyway TLDR i think this won't surpasses season 2.
