The family tree-tracing series will return next spring.
August 25, 2017
It is being reported that TLC has renewed Who Do You Think You Are? for what will be its 10th season. The genealogy documentary series has been a steady presence on TLC for the past five years since its move there in 2013 after being cancelled by original network NBC.
Look for the new season of Who Do You Think You Are? in the spring of 2018, where a new group of celebrities will trace back through their family tree to learn about their roots.

I love this program. I do wish that more non-performers were chosen to be featured. Perhaps more visual artists as the UK version has done. (Tracy Emin)

I enjoy this show, and I have learned some things about my own ancestors. When they had an individual whose family member was from Germany and arrived on a Palatinate ship, I learned about what that meant. I, too, have an ancestor who arrived in this country on a Palatinate ship, and he and his family were from Germany.
And Peter, many people can trance their ancestry to famous people. The famous people I have discovered are my cousins in one form or another can fill a small booklet. Examples of my relations: Presidents Truman and Obama, Vice Pres. Cheney; Actors Robert Duvall and Guy Madison; Historical figure Sam Houston. I will admit some are siblings of those who married into the family, but there is a connection, and it's very interesting and makes me want to learn more about them and the times they lived in.

@Peter
There are times when the researchers do turn up nothing of interest and the person is told, sorry but your family history is dull and not worth boring the viewers with, this is why there is always some nugget of scandal/famous person in every show.
The UK version has done this in the past: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/cherie-blair-s-family-too-boring-for-who-do-you-think-you-are-show-my-ancestors-weren-t-very-9581451.html

How is it that whenever ANYONE does their genealogy they are ALWAYS related in some way to a well known name. Sorry.. not possible as often as it happens. You may as well jsut tell people you're a decedent of [insert any famous name here].

I do like this show, but I like "Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr" much better. There is a lot more info on 3 separate people- often tied together in some general way- in the same amount of time. (And no annoying commercials!) I have TiVo set for both, but I seem to go to Finding.... much more often. For me personally, I don't watch it because of the celebrities. I enjoy genealogy even if I've never heard of the person.
