The History drama earns an early pickup.
September 12, 2017
History announced today that Vikings has been renewed for a sixth season. The pickup comes as no surprise, as the veteran drama remains one of the cable network's strongest originals.
In its fourth season, which concluded earlier this year, the series averaged 7.8 million viewers per episode across all delivery platforms. It also held its spot as one of ad-supported cable's Top 5 dramas, with strong viewership in key demographics.
Inspired by the epic sagas about the trading and exploring Norsemen of early medieval Scandinavia, the Irish/Canadian co-production focuses on legendary Viking chieftain Ragnar Lodbrok, who was known for raiding France and England with his longships, and eventually becoming the king of Denmark and Sweden.
Today's good news comes over 2 months in advance of the Season 5 premiere, which is scheduled for November 29. Like Season 4, Seasons 5 and 6 of Vikings will both be comprised of 20 episodes apiece.
Production on Season 6 will kick off this fall in Ireland, with a likely premiere not until late 2018 or early 2019.

This is the most awesome show out there. It is very well done in every way. It closely follows history and is fascinating. It turned me into a history enthusiast and I actually began reading history books to get a better idea of what the show was about and more details about actual characters from history. I love all the characters Travis was mesmerizing as Ragnar. Hated to see him go but it was all according to history. Clive is wonderful looking forward to seeing his character develope and I love Jonathan from the Tudor’s he is amazing and looking forward to seeing him again also.

It seems to me that this story has just about run its course already. Most of the original characters are gone, and I can't think of any of the new ones who are as compelling.
It was a brilliant series, really fun and enjoyable, but what's left?

@Sally.. as opposed to Americans sitting around eating McDonald's and swilling beer like pigs at a trough, if they can squeeze their fat asses into line???

The vikings would of had no chance against the USA its easy bashing France and England were the majority of the people just sit around drinking tea or singing about their royals

I am still hoping that ragnar pulled through, and is just biding his time until his return.

Liked it so far.. but now that Ragnar is dead.... Seems they are moving it to "Templars" not "Vikings". Curious to see how it unfolds.

This might not quite be 100% historically accurate but it's an excellent enjoyable show but it's the only show besides Ancient Aliens that I watch on this channel.
