History announced today that Vikings has been renewed for a fourth season. The drama has continued to perform well for the network, with its current season ranking as the #1 cable series on Thursdays in key demographics.
Production on Season 4 of Vikings is set to begin this spring in Ireland. Five new episodes still remain in Season 3, with the season finale scheduled for Thursday, April 23.

VIKINGS is different from Game of Thrones in that the Norsemens' invasions, and their effect on the development of Europe is real history. The main characters' are well fleshed out, and through their stories we learn the religious beliefs, customs, social order, and motivation to venture far from their villages. The set designers and costumers distinguish their art by reproducing in authentic as possible detail, Viking dress, living quarters, musical instruments, ships, and weaponry. Even the battle scenes are more than violence just thrown in for excitement. The choreography illustrates their belief that battle was sacred and they did not hold back; further, how the terrifying they were to the smaller-statured, pastoral people of Britain and France. Vikings is one of the best fictionilized history series produced, and will become a classic. I was in disbelief that the History Channel would even give a thought to cancelling the show when the story has not played out to the end.

The history channel has a number of good shows. This one is just excellent. I like this season better than the last one and that's saying a lot. This is great news.

I love this show and this season was good. Invading France was a big deal. I would like to see more history of this era. It's so forgotten.

Don't understand why a lot of people don't like this season.Floki is wearing a little thin on me though.

Happy that it will be back for season 4. Season 3 was a little bit of a disapointment after two fabulous seasons.

This show is Game of Thrones, Viking style. The scenery, sets and battle scenes are A number one quality. The acting and scripts are to die for. Well, there is a lot of dying going on, though, so it might not be for small children. I love, love, love every season and am so relieved that I have another season to look forward to.

I gave up on this show, and the history channel, 15 minutes into the first episode when I realized it was a soap opera with lousy acting and not a historical documentary.

Like the history channel has anything else... unless you're really into Hitler, WWII, and Jesus.
