The drama will end its run early next year.
October 3, 2017
TNT announced today that Major Crimes will be coming to an end after its upcoming sixth season. The spin-off series will be concluding a successful run of over 100 episodes as one of the cable network's strongest entries. Its most-recent season was watched by an average of 7.7 million viewers across linear, digital, and VOD platforms.
Major Crimes got its start in 2012 as a spin-off of The Closer. In five-plus years on the air, the series has done an impressive job as its successor, drawing consistently-strong viewership that ranks it as one of the most-watched shows on cable TV among total viewers as well in key demographics.
The sixth and final season of Major Crimes premieres on October 31 at 9:00pm for a 13-episode run that will conclude with a 2-hour series finale on January 16, 2018.

Echo all the previous comments. The end of another excellent show. The networks continue to shove nonsensical reality shows upon us.

Sorry to see this show end. I didn't watch the Closer but having discoved this one, I have enjoyed the comic relief of Flynn and Provenza. Plus I enjoy the crime show format without a lot of sex or violence. I find most of the situation comedies to be dull and unimaginative with the exception of Last Man Standing and the Big Bang Theory. They keep removing the enjoyable shows to replace them with sex, violence or repeated cliches.

The end of an era.
Major Crimes was comfort food, seeing the familiar faces for almost a dozen years including The Closer. The characters and the stories never got old, and it was the camaraderie among the characters (and probably the actors) that kept me coming back.

Love this series but honestly I'm glad it is ending after this season. There has been too much focus on rusty and his sexuality. It seems like they are just throwing it in our faces left and right that he is gay. Like okay we get it he is gay now move on.... but nope they continue to focus on him and his drama not the actual cases.

Like the others posting here I will miss this show. I was going to say 'a few years ago TNT's original programs were all on my Must Watch list', but then I realized it was actually more like a decade ago. Actually the last few years TNT's new original programming hasn't made it to completely watching the first episode.

No... I love this show, I loved The Closer to. Also, Murder in the First and Rizzoli & Isles. I was upset those 2 were gone! Now, I'll be done with the whole network! Taking all the good ones off!

@Sara ditto to the Flynn and Provenza show! I doubt they could carry a season, but my family watched and waited for the episodes that highlighted them.
.
It is a great ensemble, and I am beyond thrilled they were able to continue sans Kyra. I'll miss this show horribly. I used to love almost everything TNT aired. Now I can only think of one original show I bother with.

I’ll miss Raymond Cruz. Hopefully another show will pick him up.
