No Season 5 for the hospital drama.
October 13, 2017
Word is out this evening that NBC has cancelled The Night Shift after four seasons. The medical drama premiered in 2014 with a decent, but short, eight-episode summer stint. The network ended up sticking with the series and expanded its episode counts for the next three seasons, where it aired as a midseason and summer entry.
The Night Shift followed a war veteran and adrenaline junkie who works the overnight shift at San Antonio Memorial Hospital. He and his irreverent team of doctors always do what it takes to get their jobs done, but also know how to let off a little steam with a prank here and there.

@Suzanne - I love Inhumans. The only superhero comic I've previously watched and still watch is Legends of Tomorrow which is really bad so I wouldn't recommend it. These comics are all bad. I started watching Inhumans and it started stupid and slow by me. The King (Anson Mount from Hell on Wheels) does not speak and that looked lame, at first. Before long though, it became quite interesting. The Queen is an actress I know from Graceland and she is stunningly perfect for her role.

Night Shift was my very favorite show. I LOVED the storylines and the way they showed hospital scenes and military flashbacks. PLEASE reconsider!!

@Mike D Thanks. That is exactly the kind of information I like this site for... I just wish it was directly interactive. I will take your advice to heart. I have been wondering about the oversaturation Marvel has been risking - especially with so much on Netflix. I appreciate most of the chances they have taken so I personally hope they will slow down and not destroy their whole rep with a dud or 2. Thanks again

@Suzanne, if you haven't started watching Inhumans yet, I wouldn't start. It literally is a poorly scripted, ill acted, in desperate need of better costuming bore-fest with only a glimmer of hope that somewhere deep in all the mundane and inconsequential dialogue a plot will emerge. Until this show, I have liked everything Marvel TV has put out but now I'm wondering if their time in the spotlight is coming to and end.

Well, another one bites the dust. The show was moderately good. I really disagree with the comments by Justin G and take true offense. Lifetime/Hallmark watchers may like a sappy story line, but everyone needs a little fluff in their life. What with the current world situations, it is nice to watch a good feeling show, and shut out the real world.

@Sharon I completely agree! I just heard of the removal of the show and I'm passed!! Its another great show gone and it pissed me off so much! First Last man standing now this. I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of code black next too! Now I'm down to big bang theory, code black and the food place to watch...

@floridAL: Thanks for the info. I was hoping he left by choice. I have been recording Inhumans, but I haven't started to watch it yet. I hate to get into new fall shows just to have them cancelled. I think TV guide printed that Inhumans could be in trouble. I hope not...
.
I'm still kind of pissed off at the end of this summer's Salvation. I don't understand why shows can't wrap up at least part of the storyline.
.
Anyone know when the fate of summer series will be announced? Approximately?

Oh, NBC...this is the last straw for you and your Network. I am down to watching "This is Us, Chicago Fire and Chicago Med" with this latest cancellation. You're as bad as ABC when it comes to cancelling really good shows to put on crappy shows.

This is sad news. I really enjoyed watching The Night Shift. It was one of the few shows I enjoyed watching during the summer. Very sad....Sometimes it amazes me at the dumb shows they keep and the good ones they let slip away....

I really liked this show and was hoping that it would get renewed for another season. If enough people protest, maybe this decision will be overturned, or perhaps another network will pick it up (i.e. Nashville)
