No Season 3 for the comedic sci-fi series.
December 18, 2017
It is being reported that BBC America has cancelled Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency after two seasons. The move to end the show comes just days after the comedic sci-fi series aired its second-season finale.
The cable network released the following statement this afternoon, confirming the news: "We are beyond proud of this brilliant original series and so appreciative of the outstanding team behind it including Max Landis, Samuel Barnett, Elijah Wood, and many many others. It was a privilege to work with this talented and passionate group of writers, producers and actors on these two seasons of Dirk. Thanks also to the passionate fans who embraced this fantastically novel world."
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency stars Samuel Barnett as the eccentric titular character, who uses his uncanny psychic abilities as a key element in his investigations. Along with his reluctant assistant Todd, played by Elijah Wood, the oddball duo embark on thrilling and bizarre adventures involving cases of the supernatural kind.

Season 1, very interesting and unique; Season 2, over the top, goofy and the plot diminished the character building. Got too wacky and lost any heart. Elijah and Jade Eshete's supposed love affair was non-existant, neither was there any chemistry between them, this is why you never saw them kiss. Samuel Barnett & Elijah Wood seemed to have more intimate chemistry than the rest, should've just made them lovers. Best character on the show was the Holistic Assassin, Bart played by Fiona Dourif. That should be a spinoff.

Another Snowflake melts down when someone call them out and tries to defend racism with "PC." (if your not a snowflake then don't melt down over this comment too, it just proves you are.)

I won't apologize for having a preference. Not everyone is accepting of the PC crap.

Such a creative interpretation of the quirky character created bucket Douglas Adams. I read the Dirk Gently books after the five book 'trilogy' of HGttG. I think they did a superb job of matching the non-linear storytelling of the books. With the series done, I guess I shall dig out the books again!

I wanted to like this one, but after a few episodes, it got more and more confusing and weird, and really not that interesting

Lets be honest. She had a bad haircut. The haircut did not suit her. Now Vivica did not need to add race to the mix, but that does not mean the haircut suited her. She also was separated from the title character too much to make her work as a character. She was added as a padding to a weak writing.
Also Shana-Elizabeth you wrote fruitless when you meant delusional. BBCA's show is not the one the petition is talking about. Original and based on the novels is the BBC version. This version was the played out over the top version. It is more of "The Magicians" with names swapped than a Dirk Gently adaptation. They should change the picture to reflect the correct version they want renewed.

For anyone still interested in season 3 BBCA will not be continuing the series but as it isn't the only backing of the show there is a petition to keep it going. Yes, I know it sounds fruitless but this show is a show is special and different, like most of the people that like it and it's worth the effort not to let it go without a fight.

This version was watchable and okay but not as good as the real one. This one tried to hard to add crazy stuff each season so that it could connect them. They needed to go away from the over the topness, but just leaned more into it.
Also Dirk did not use psychic abilities. he was a detective and used his detective skills to detected the connectivity of things.

Wow. There's always one isn't there? Not sure what show you were watching Vivica, but Jade Eshete is not only beautiful but was a great addition to the crew as well. All the characters were great. Not a single one I didn't like. That's pretty rare.

Sorry.. but Jade Eshete is absolutely beautiful. If you don't see that Vivica, you clearly have very skewed values. You a chubby chaser or something?
