At its TCA presentation today, ABC announced that its 2017 revival of The Gong Show will be back for a second season. The amateur talent competition returned to the air this past summer after nearly a decade since its last incarnation.

The original Gong Show premiered way back in 1976 on NBC, airing for two years before entering syndication, where it was broadcast on and off through 1989. The popular format has popped up in various short-lived incarnations since then, but none caught on the way the original did. ABC's revival looks to have changed that trend, as viewership was solid over the course of its freshman run.

Hosted by a British comedian named Tommy Maitland, who is actually Mike Myers is disguise, the series features unique and creative performers who take to the primetime stage with unusual talents. A revolving panel of celebrity judges critique them, offering praise if they enjoy the act or a gong to show disapproval.

No premiere date has been set for Season 2 of The Gong Show revival, but another summer run appears likely.
