The new game show will return for Season 2.
January 9, 2018
NBC announced today during the TCA winter press tour that Ellen's Game of Games has been renewed for a second season. The prime time game show debuted in December with a special preview episode ahead of its official time slot premiere on January 2.
Just three episodes into its run, the freshman series has been garnering impressive ratings for the network. Last week's back-to-back episodes dominated the adults 18-49 ratings from 8:00pm-10:00pm. That kind of performance is likely the reason NBC wasted no time in ordering up a second season.
Ellen's Game of Games is hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and features supersized versions of fan-favorite games taken from her daytime talk show. Contestants are selected from the audience to compete in a variety of challenges ranging from answering time-pressured questions to maneuvering large obstacles - and even taking plunges into the unknown.
NBC has ordered 13 episodes for Season 2, though when the show will return is anybody's guess at this point. The network could keep it as a mid-season entry in 2018-2019 or even opt to air it for a summer run.

@Charlie - LOVED your comment, but can a live person be reincarnated??
We just couldn't get into this one. Not a fan of Japanese game shows either. It is very "Ellen" though, obviously.

If it's laughs you're looking for, I suggest "Match Game" instead.

I love Ellen. I loved Ellen back when most people didn't know who Ellen Degeneres was. I am glad her game show was renewed. For those who think it is too slow moving to be played at home, then stick with Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune (also amazing game shows, and the fact they have been on air forever is a testament to that). This one is all about just having fun and being a little silly. We all need some silliness and laughter in our life and that is what Ellen is providing here. The fact that someone might win a little money is a bonus to the fun, not the other way around. So if this isn't your kind of fun, that's ok, I am sure there are other ways for you to have fun. Or if you watch this show for the at home game show experience, then you will be disappointed. I am glad to see some shows on tv that will provide some of us with some fun and silliness and laughter. Most shows are too serious, even some of the sitcoms...

Her ride at disney world was more fun than this. Why do networks not realize the success of Jeopardy is the speed and ability to play at home (scream at screen) and the success of Jeopardy is the speed and ability to play at home (scream at screen). They give one answer then ham it up for 20 minutes. We want to be able to play at home. No speed means less me playing at home and I can go watch house hinters for more entertaining play at home action.

The more I see here the more I think Ellen is the reincarnation of Sandi Duncan.... or Peter Pan directly.. is she a woman or a 12 year old boy? It's REALLY hard to tell at times.
