The new action drama will return for Season 2.
April 2, 2018
The CW announced today that Black Lightning has been renewed for a second season. The superhero drama premiered early this year as a mid-season replacement and has been having a solid freshman run to this point.
Currently 10 episodes into its 13-episode season, the show has been garnering praise from both audiences and critics for its strong performances and engaging storytelling that brings a unique style to the superhero genre.
Black Lightning follows a man who, years ago, was bestowed with superhuman powers that enabled him to harness and control electricity. Long retired from putting his life on the line, a recent rise in crime and corruption in his community bring him back into action for the sake of his family and the soul of his city.
No details on Season 2 have been released as of yet. An episode count is still unknown, as is whether the show will stay as a mid-season entry or be moved into the regular season for 2018-2019.

Only got about halfway through and couldn’t continue. As a white viewer the constant “bitch, you know who you messing with?” dialogue on a show featuring black actors is insulting and feels stereotypical. Also giving nearly EVERYBODY(!!!) powers of some sort is ridiculous. The suits are also hokey as hell. It’s sad because Cress Williams is incredible to watch outside of the Christian Bale Batman voice.

Of all the comic book SOPA OPERAS I think this is the worst. CW is pigeonholing themselves far too much with all the DC shows. Especially when they expect viewers to watch all 4 (5?) to keep up with story lines.
