The superhero drama will say good-bye in 2021.
November 20, 2020
The CW announced today that Black Lightning will be coming to an end next year after its upcoming fourth season. The news comes 10 months after the superhero drama was last renewed and just days after a spin-off series, titled Painkiller, was confirmed to be in the works.
The hour-long series debuted in 2018 as a mid-season replacement and has been a decent performer for the network over the course of its run. It was notably the first DC-based superhero show to feature a Black lead, and today it joins Supergirl as the second DC drama to end in 2021.
Black Lightning follows a man who, years ago, was bestowed with superhuman powers that enabled him to harness and control electricity. Long retired from putting his life on the line, a recent rise in crime and corruption in his community bring him back into action for the sake of his family and the soul of his city.
The fourth and final season of Black Lightning premieres on Monday, February 8.

the daughters whining and drama is awful. i couldnt stand watching another episode let alone a season. luke cage on netflix is better. which isnt a compliment it just doesnt have tons of annoying characters like BL does.

Acting on this show was always hideous to watch. Not a single cast member had any real acting skills.

Superhero MOVIES are played out trash, I can't imagine how dire a low budget superhero TV show would be to sit down and watch. Are these things just money laundering schemes?

They keep adding more shows, they need to make room for new ones. BL is really good...I'm actually not even done w/Season 1 yet.4 seasons is a pretty good run. I'm sure they can go to the well to bring back old characters in the new shows whenever they want. Not sure if CW had a long term detailed plan like the MCU though.

After reading about the Arrow reboot, I think there is going to be a mass exodus to HBO Max for the DC shows.

I actually quite liked the show even if I personally couldnt identify with some of the issues the characters had cause of where they lived. Sure it had some SJW stuff but when you get past that and ignore it it is still a decent superhero show.
Fun fact, the character was created by two white guys too. lol

Another one bites the dust. Marvel yanked all their shows from the small screen now it looks like DC is doing the same thing. Why?
Science fiction beats the hell out of scripted "reality" shows, but I guess people want to watch housewives of who cares where and masked wannabes who sing or dance judged by wannabes who over react for the cameras.
I hope both Supergirl and Black Lightning get a proper sendoff in their crossover episode, IF they even have one next year. Bummer.
