No Season 5 for the post-apocalyptic comedy.
May 10, 2018
It looks like The Last Man on Earth has reached the end of the road after four seasons. Star January Jones posted the sad news on her Instagram account this afternoon, expressing her gratitude for her time on the show.
"To our @lastmanfox family..it's been an amazing 4yrs, thank you for all the hard work, we love you and will miss seeing you every day! And thank you to our fans who loved and laughed at these ridiculous and lovably flawed characters," the actress wrote, alongside a picture of her co-star Will Forte.
The end-of-the-world comedy premiered in 2015 with a 13-episode mid-season run that garnered critical acclaim and solid ratings. After a good first-showing, Fox moved the series to its regular fall lineup and upped its episode count to 18. Two more renewals would follow, though its ratings slowly tapered off over the course of its run.
As The Last Man on Earth has done in the past, Season 4 ended with a cliffhanger finale that, to its fans dismay, will never be resolved.

Loved this show but i always said that Will beat too much around the bush and pushed his luck with that vague storyline too many filler episodes with nothing much too add anithing to the plot at all, not to mention all the breaks and hiatus the series took throughout its run. i knew this was going to be cancelled and i knew we would never got to see the conclusion. well... farts farts farts.

Argh, so disappointed! Loved this show. Though the stories may not have panned out how I thought they should, there was always an element of surprise and a definite uniqueness. I thought I had read that the next season would be its last and things would be wrapped up. Now, it's more open ended than ever with this finale.

Loved this show and what a "tool" Tandy was. Season 4 could have been better if they kept Melissa crazy.. but suddenly she got sane again. And the cliffhanger ending would have ruined season 5 anyway. I mean talk about jumping the shark. And to do it in a season finale?? No wonder.

It started out as one of my favorite shows but it kept adding more and more people. The latest episode I watched showed dozens of people standing around them in an orchard. It started as "The Last Man on Earth" and over the years has become "People on Earth". Maybe not billions anymore but certainly more than just one. I think it jumped the shark a bit but I'm still a bit sad to see it go.
