The comedy will not be back for Season 3 after all.
June 9, 2018
It looks like People of Earth will not be returning for its long-awaited third season after all. Series creator David Jenkins posted a message on Twitter letting his followers known that TBS has cancelled the alien abductee comedy, reversing its renewal from last fall.
The reason behind the cable network's change of heart is not known, though it is curious. The original decision on a third season came towards the end of Season 2, meaning TBS already had enough ratings information to assess whether a renewal was warranted. Also, writing for Season 3 is already complete, so significant work on the next season had been put in for quite some time.
People of Earth premiered in 2016 and got off to a strong start during its freshman run, ranking as one of the Top 10 new cable comedies of the year among adults 18-49. Viewership has dipped slightly during Season 2, but its numbers remained relatively close to the previous year.
The series follows a journalist who starts investigating an alien abductee support group. His initial skepticism subsides after digging deeper into their bizarre claims, to the point where he realizes that there may be evidence of his own alien abduction.

Yes, this show was FUN and I'll miss it, but stop with the left right political BS, it's about the money stupid! Good casts cost a lot! Plenty of space on the schedule. The bean counters won again, geez people get a life, alien or otherwise.

A lot of shows I was watching have now been cancelled. This happens every year. Not sure why I invest my time in these network's offerings, if they are just going to cancel them with little, or no reason, but keep other shows on that are pure garbage. At least I won't be wasting as much time watching TV this Fall.

They probably need to make room in their schedule for shows with angry, biter liberals so they can make ad-hominem attacks against the first lady and President.
I guess TBS thinks we are all a bunch of mouth breathing rubes.

Chris...totally agree. They cancel good programming and keep the "C" word Bee show on the air. I'm sure Bee is laughing all the way to the bank. Nice try TBS...we still won't watch that trashy Bee show!

@chris
Air what? the scripts? Writing is cheap. Why spend money on filming if you really don't want it. They don't want to put more money in it then have to cancel it later.

How many shows do they have? It is NOT good to say it's renewed then cancel it. That's bad management.
