The superhero drama will not return for Season 3.
October 19, 2018
Another hero has fallen at Netflix. The streaming service confirmed this evening that Luke Cage has been cancelled after two seasons. The news comes just one week after fellow superhero drama Iron Fist was given the ax - also after its second season.
The reasons behind the recent moves are unclear, but seem to indicate that Netflix might be looking to taper back on their Marvel-related original content. Remaining active series include Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and Daredevil, which just released its third season today. It is not clear if the Luke Cage or Iron Fist characters will make any appearances in the other shows' upcoming seasons.
Luke Cage followed the titular crime-fighting superhero who uses his superhuman strength to clean up the streets of Harlem.

People keep trying to tie this to the Disney Streaming Service, but the truth is that both Iron Fist and Luke Cage were objectively badly written series.
Iron Fist dropped the ball hiring a crap showrunner for its first season and casting an actor who knows zero martial arts as a superhero whose superpowers are related to the same.
Luke Cage Season 1 was good enough, but season 2 was just awful, where the titular character was essentially a glorified side character and Mariah was given center stage, ranting half the time like she was half drunk, and half on-the-spectrum.

Superheroes wear costumes , fans can only wait so long for that to happen.

Yes this is a very, very boring and slow show. I had folded a lot of washed clothes while watching this show.

@Nina I have been thinking the same thing. Luke Cage was tied for #1 with Daredevil for me as far as the Marvel series go. And seeing Luke Cage canceled right after Iron Fist just seems off. I'm certain it has to do with Disney or a rewrite of Heroes for Hire. Fingers crossed either way hopefully Luke Cage returns in some form.

Who needs "Black Mariah" when you have Maxine Watters.

I’m wondering if they are combining Luke Cage and Iron Fist into one show..... Heroes for Hire. I think that would be great! Crossing my fingers that Netflix does that.

All the one off shows will be canceled and the actors will merge into the one remaining Avengers show.
