The summer drama will not return for Season 2.
November 6, 2018
It is being reported that NBC has cancelled Reverie after one season. The drama premiered in May with a 10-episode summer run that drew generally-positive reviews, though it ultimately failed to make a splash in the ratings.
The series starred Sarah Shahi as Mara Kint, a human behavior expert who takes a new role saving people who have lost themselves in a high-tech virtual reality simulation that allows them to live their dreams.

Really bummed about this one. Loved the show and thought it had a lot of potential. This would be the perfect show for SyFy.

I remember Sarah Shahi as a co ed way back in the movie Old School. She's hot.

I am a fan of Sarah Shahi. She makes me smile. I liked the show and it was a good concept. I really liked Sarah on Fairly Legal as well but that was also cancelled. I hope they find her a show that will last.

This show just never jelled. There were too many characters and the plots went all over the place. Was this a front for an evil government operation to control our minds? A new way to treat mental illness? The series never found its focus either way.
Too bad, the premise was great.

I agree with both those who like Reverie and with those who had things to criticize: I have mixed feelings. The premise of the show is excellent - I love the whole idea of it. Sarah Shahi was the right actor for it, and I bet she loved that role - a role much the opposite of her Person of Interest character. At the beginning, Mara was supposed to be an ex-hostage negiator. But the production failed to make her look like a real hostage negotiator - she was given the temperament, but not the weight. They jumped right into reverie at the beginning, which seemed to be good, especially for getting our attention, but with the lack of background, all the actors, except for Sarah, didn’t really fit their roles. I had to get used to every one of them. The stories were nice, and sometimes clever, but likewise unexciting. It was a great idea, but they made it kludgy. I still liked it but I won’t watch the two episodes I have left due to time constraints.

This show was amazing, sad to see it go, NBC is cancelling every good show, like Trial & Error. Big Mistake

This is a great show. Netflix should grab it.

No loss on this cancellation. Show was predictable, boring, and uninteresting.

I’m surprised not everyone saw this coming? The majority of sci fi/fantasy/supernatural shows usually don’t make it past their first or second seasons here in the US. I’m a huge fan of those type of shows and pretty much try to watch every one of them, as I did this one, which I liked immensely. I have gotten used to appreciating them while they air but expecting them to be cancelled at any point, which has taken the sting out when they do. Americans seem more interested in either reality shows, or shows that mirror the reality of our current country’s state...

I love Sarah Shahi and this show. It has a great cast, but it also had creative stand-alone episodes while still doing due diligence to the arc story. Not a lot of shows manage that.
I pretty much expect summer shows to only get one season, but I couldn't help but hope Reverie would beat the odds and get picked up. Oh well.
