The streaming series will continue in 2020.
February 27, 2019
CBS announced today that Star Trek: Discovery has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes in the midst of the sci-fi drama's sophomore run, which has continued to garner critical praise as a worthy addition to the storied franchise on which it is based.
The big-budget production seems to have found its footing after a bit of a rocky beginning. First announced in 2015, it took two years for the series to make its much-anticipated debut in late 2017 due to multiple delays as well as a showrunner change during that time. While things are running smoother now, today's announcement also included news that a second showrunner is being added for Season 3. Executive Producer Michelle Paradise is joining Alex Kurtzman at the helm going forward.
Taking place 10 years before the events of the original Star Trek series, Star Trek: Discovery follows a brand new crew on a new ship as they take on missions to discover new worlds and lifeforms during the Federation-Klingon war.
Look for Season 3 to premiere sometime in 2020.

God I love people whining about it. Please, do tell where the show hurt you. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple as that. Go watch discount Trek, The Orville.
There are plenty of people that like the show. I've got some issues with it myself, but I love it. And I grew up with TNG and DS9. So it's not just the "New genners" that watch it.

Sinestrad, are you still actually worried about paid subscriptions with all of these APK's out here? Ive seen every episode of this and never paid a dime.

Heres how they should rectify this with fans who have a problem with there being too much future looking tech. They should make it to where the discovery was made with some kind of future tech thats somehow disrupting space and time because its not supposed to be where its at currently. So the only way to rectify it is go ahead in time to where its SUPPOSED to be in order to stabilize everything. Its a coin toss if this happens against their wishes or someone figures out that thats what they voluntarily need to do as a kind of sacrifice. The first choice would probably work out better. First of course, Captain Pike needs to take his arse back the the enterprise so he can fulfill his canon timeline events. Everyone else can go to the future because they arent canon anyway. And Michael can reconnect with Spock in the future since he lives for so long and will most likely still be alive. So there you have it. Two birds with one stone. Discoveries future looking tech explained and fans finally get a Star Trek series thats not focused on what happened in the past. We want a series that takes place AFTER STG. Tired of this retro stuff.

Worst scifi show ever. Not trek, not anything worth watching.

Totally agree with Bonkers. Tried to watch it as I have watched all the others but this is so bad, the acting in terrible. Trying so hard to act like Spock, but she cannot it is worse than watching a dubbed movie where English is not the original language. Don't know who thought this would be a good idea and then make you pay for it for streaming.

@Bonkers - it's not just about the market in the US anymore - Netflix streams it pretty much everywhere else in the world. I'm in the UK and love this show (though it's not the same as previous shows i.e. Next Gen / DS9).

Wait? There are people actually watching this still? I dont know of a single person who is - even my most die hard Trekkie friends only watched what they could inside one of the free promotions and they were not impressed... Well good for them, i personally refuse to buy another streaming service so ill be waiting for it to be on the CBS i already pay for...
