No Season 2 for the 70s-set comedy.
May 10, 2019
It is being reported that ABC has cancelled The Kids Are Alright after just one season. The move is a bit of a surprise, as the comedy was a fairly decent performer during its run.
A latecomer to the 2018-2019 season with a mid-October premiere, the sitcom got off to a solid start, ranking as one of the fall's top new comedies. Just three weeks into its run, the network ordered additional episodes to bring its total to 23 - a full season's worth. Viewership has started to taper off over the latter half the season, however.
The Kids Are Alright follows a traditional 1970s working-class Irish-Catholic family. Parents Mike and Peggy are raising eight boys who spend most of their days with little to no supervision. With a total of 10 people under one roof sharing three bedrooms and one bathroom, it ends up being everyone for themselves.

I HATE YOU ABC! This is the funniest comedy on television. Fast paced dialog, awesome characters and clever story lines. Shame on you ABC!

Of course its cancelled. ABC has a long, disgraceful history of cancelling very good, well written shows, Ugly Betty, Happy Endings, Suburgatory, Don't Trust the B in Apt 23, etc, etc, etc. The shows that replaced those shows all had lower ratings. So congrats ABC on continuing your tradition of idiocy.

This is crazy. This show is great. Too many shows get cancelled too early, before given a chance. This is one of the best out there right now. Really need to give it another shot!

WHAT! I give up. Any good show gets canceled but the Bachelor will be on forever. This show was the best. Hopefully some one will pick it up. I’m bummed.

Unhappy with this decision.
Networks have no patience for cleverly written programs, and seemingly unlimited patience for garbage such as the bachelor, the bachelorette, talent shows, etc.
