Netflix announced today that Russian Doll has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes four months following the dramedy's freshman release, which drew a strong amount of praise from both critics and audiences alike.
The series stars Natasha Lyonne as Nadia, a misanthropic young woman on a repeating journey where she dies and relives her 36th birthday party in New York City over and over. A prime candidate for binge-watching, Season 1 consisted of just eight half-hour episodes.
Season 2 of Russian Doll will follow the same format, with another eight episodes planned. Look for a return sometime in 2020.

I can't say I liked the main character the first few episodes but the reasons for her being unlikable were later explained. She showed an impressive amount of smarts towards the end which wasn't evident at the start.
Still, as far as time-loop stories go, I remember one Star Trek Next Gen episode and one Stargate SG-1 episode that both got the to the point a whole lot sooner and in a more interesting way.
I hope the next season is with different characters. The first season wrapped up nicely as far as the two main characters were concerned and there's no reason to do another season with the same characters.
