The fan-favorite clip show will return in 2020.
November 11, 2019
E! has announced that The Soup is coming out of retirement four years after being cancelled. The revived edition will be hosted by actress/comedian Jade Catta-Preta.
The series last aired between 2004 and 2015 with Joel McHale serving as host. But the franchise dates back further than that - all the way back to 1991 when it was known as Talk Soup. While that version had various hosts during its seven-year run, it was McHale's version that made the show an audience favorite.
Look for the revived edition of The Soup in early 2020.

The snowflakes bitching about a woman host are hilarious. Who cares? The writing could be a lot better and there hasn't been a new episode in months.

The people on here who think having a woman host the show is pandering when 1) Women make up more than half the population. One of your biological parents is a woman. Get over it. And 2) Suzanne Somers and Aisha Tyler hosted Talk Soup in the 90s and early 2000s. This show didn't start with Joel McHale.

I will give it a view just to see if it measures up. I have never heard of the host so it should be interesting to see her delivery.

No Joel, no viewers.

The fact that Joel isn't back concerns me. I've read that he left because E! was starting to push back against any jokes about the Kardashians. I'm worried that if he isn't back then it's because they aren't backing down, which means the show may end up heavily censored and likely a shadow of what it used to be.

Oh goody it's hosted by a woman. Big shock there. No thanks, hard pass.

I thought there was no Soup for me because I didn’t think I still got E! I looked and E! is there - I positioned it just after POP and Bravo, way out where I never look anymore. In 2004, Soup was kind of interesting, but after that I only would watch rare snippets anyway. Bottom line: E! has been bottom barrel for so long it can’t get up - it’s unlikely to ever get resurrected by me.

McHale was great on the soup (but his Netflix show lacked).
I've not heard of this new host but I'll still give it a few episodes to win me over. (Signed, an old white guy)

So I want to start by saying I love women, but it seems like we are doing a crazy overcorrection on women leading TV shows. No every single program that's out has to have a female lead. And I get it, people will say that's how it's been for men forever, but here's the problem. Too much in any direction is bad. How about just an even mix.
