The struggling drama moves to Saturday to end its run.
January 12, 2020
It looks like we have our first cancellation of 2020, as Fox is pulling Almost Family from its schedule after this Wednesday's episode. The move comes as the low-rated drama winds down its 13-episode run.
Since its premiere in October, the hourlong series has struggled to find an audience on Wednesday nights. Airing at 9:00pm, its ratings and overall viewership numbers had a hard time keeping up with its time slot competition.
Almost Family follows Julia, an only child who is shocked to find out that her father, a fertility doctor, used his own sperm to conceive over one hundred children during the course of his career. This revelation leads Julia to come to know two new sisters, and the three young women begin to form an untraditional family bond.
Considering the show's lacklustre ratings and the move to Saturday, its finale on February 22 will likely serve as its series ender.

I tried to like this show but it was an unfocused mess. Gave up after three episodes.

I'm way behind so I was trying to decide what to do about bothering to catch up. Thanks for making it easy on me! Sickly, the reason this general plot is all over the place is because the basic concept actually happened. EWWW! I gagged when I saw it on the news quite a while ago.

@Beth - That had nothing to do with the show being cancelled. The show was cancelled because it wasn't good.

As mentioned above, it was pre-emted too many times by sports! Maybe air a new show consistently, start it when it is not going to be pre-empted for six weeks. It tends to make people lose interest. I really liked this show, I am sad to hear it is cancelled

I am a fan of they show and I have watched evey episode thus far. This show definitely deals with topics that Deserve a conversation. Yes it did turn out that that was not her bilogical father which meant they were not actually sisters, but lets not forget the bond that was created that they refused to let be torn apart. It saddens that it was cancelled. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the writers as well as the Extroidinary cast! I wish you all the best!! ❤#AlmostFamily #AMANDIE #TeamRoxy

@Jayna. The plot about the dad not being her biological dad ended it for me. I found the show somewhat entertaining. Turned into to much of a soap opera in the last 2 episodes I watched.

I really like this show, but I'm not surprised to see it go. It was not very well promoted, it was pre - empted too frequently, and it wasn't PC enough for the general TV audience. Then to throw in the twist SPOILER that the dad isn't her dad so the sisters aren't her sisters? It is funny and it does have enough going on though.

Well so far 3 comments not including mine and it seems everyone had the same impression of the show I did. I tried to watch the first episode and just stopped. I'm thinking for accounting reasons networks make bad shows to show a loss for the books.
