No Season 2 for the drama reboot.
April 17, 2020
It is being reported that Freeform has cancelled Party of Five after just one season. The sad news comes less than two months after the family drama finished its 10-episode freshman outing.
The show was a reboot of the acclaimed 1990s Fox series of the same name that ran for six seasons. Structured in a similar manner with a modern-day take on its family situation, the new Party of Five received generally-positive reviews, but like the original, suffered from lacklustre ratings.
The series follows a family of five children as they deal with life's daily struggles after their parents are unexpectedly deported to Mexico. Left to fend for themselves the moment they said goodbye to their mother and father at an immigration detention center, the kids must fight through adversity and find a way to function as a family unit.

@Beth : There was nothing wrong with the show reflecting social commentary.It just made YOU uncomfortable because you don't do well with social issues. The US has more COVID cases and deaths than anywhere else in the world. Mexico is a valued trading partner and has been for decades.Mexico's unemployment rate is under 4%, and the US has 26M unemployed. There is no wall being built;you're sadly misinformed. If legality matters to you then read up on US law and why your president recommends Lysol and hydroxychloroquine.

And there it is again. A good show cancelled, probably to be replaced by just another "reality" show. What is wrong with having a feel good show to help us get through all that is really going on around us.

Unfortunately the description of the show is going to cause a lot of people not to even view it. This is a hollywood social agenda and people are sick of it. Why couldn't it just be a mexican family where parents died? Why do they have to be deported? I'm sorry that there are people suffering in mexico but the US has made it our problem for decades. Illegal is illegal. Since covid19 arose I now have a great appreciation for our border protection and support the wall being built. It needed to be done. I'm not heartless though, my heart goes out to the families suffering in mexico that can't get help from their own president. I hope these drug cartels are deeply hurt by the lockdown!!

@Sari : It might find a home on another network. Somebody already mentioned "One Day At A Time"

@Barb:
Because it makes people feel vindicated. I like the show and I can relate because I am both autistic and undocumented.
I want to live and prosper here, but white men scare me.

Interesting that so many say they didn’t like this show and how great it’s ending. If you don’t like it you can always NOT WATCH IT! I loved the show, good acting, good stories and feel-good TV. Sad it’s being canceled.

@Kimberly K : These days it's tough to find an audience because there are just so many shows out there. Maybe HULU could do something with it? I wish I knew more of how it al worked.
