No Season 2 for the midseason drama.
June 25, 2020
Word is out that NBC has cancelled Council of Dads after one season. Star J. August Richards took to Twitter this afternoon with the sad news, which comes ahead of next week's scheduled season finale - now its series ender.
The show premiered in March for a 10-episode midseason run that ultimately underperformed for the network. Critical reception was decidedly mixed and ratings were among the lowest on NBC compared to its other dramas.
Council of Dads follows a father of four whose life is turned upside down after an unexpected health scare. Concerned for his family's well-being in the case of his absence, he recruits some of his closest friends to step in as back-up dads to help guide his kids through every stage of their lives.

@KERRI
You are right. All that matters is what *I* want. *I* didn't like it.
Ha ha ha! You made my day!
Happy viewing!!

The premise of the show was weird from the beginning. And I understand having diversity, but it was like the show had to have everybody represented. How many families are that diverse? It became too much of a distraction.

SERIOUSLY. I was really enjoying this show. I seriously can't stand NBC about now. They keep cancelling shows I watch. Uhhhhhhh.

Of course they get rid of a show about men.
If this was called council of moms they would have given it so many seasons.

Why NBC? Just because it had no viewers, was not going to get viewers, critics were indifferent to it, it had no social media after the full season you gave viewers a chance, all of which caused it to lose advertisers, which caused it to lose profit, all while costing money to make and taking up time that could be used for profitable shows which would attract an audience. That's no reason to cancel it. I liked it and I am all that matters.

When you get beat in ratings every week by Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and reruns of Young Sheldon you know it is time to throw in the towel. I'm all for diversity but there has to be a balance. This show had no balance. It had mediocre acting and unimaginative story lines. For everyone complaining that this show will be replaced by a reality show, more likely it will be replaced by a show someone watches.
