No Season 2 for the Penny Dreadful follow-up.
August 21, 2020
It is being reported that Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has been cancelled by Showtime after only one season. The sad news comes just under two months following the drama's freshman finale. The series aired a total of 10 episodes and garnered generally positive reviews from critics.
Acting as a successor to 2014's Penny Dreadful, City of Angels followed Detective Tiago Vega and his partner, who become consumed by a brutal murder case that rocked Los Angeles in 1938. The city's rich history, including its traditions of Mexican-American folklore, the espionage actions of the Third Reich, and the rise of radio evangelism, all lead to Tiago and his family battling powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart.

The "reissue" was truly "dreadful". This was propaganda about hispanic racism in the 50s... it wasn't anywhere near related to anything "supernatural"... Even if it wasn't meant to be close to the original, this show just sucked.

I watched 3 episodes and quit. I really liked the original version with Eva Green but I couldn’t get into this.

As much fun as it is to watch Natalie Dormer, the storyline just wasn’t there. I had a very hard time connecting with the main characters.
