No Season 2 for the Penny Dreadful follow-up.
August 21, 2020
It is being reported that Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has been cancelled by Showtime after only one season. The sad news comes just under two months following the drama's freshman finale. The series aired a total of 10 episodes and garnered generally positive reviews from critics.
Acting as a successor to 2014's Penny Dreadful, City of Angels followed Detective Tiago Vega and his partner, who become consumed by a brutal murder case that rocked Los Angeles in 1938. The city's rich history, including its traditions of Mexican-American folklore, the espionage actions of the Third Reich, and the rise of radio evangelism, all lead to Tiago and his family battling powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart.

First off this was a horrible idea to begin with and never should have been made. But if you posted that it was better than the original or anything about Ray Donovan than you obviously just don't have a clue. You'd be better suited to Fuller House or The Connors or whatever the hell it is/was called.

SHO took a totally beautiful franchise named Penny Dreadful (first masterfullyp executed with lavish budgets, costumes and sets with special effects almost on a Game of Thrones level but with a heavy Victorian flair the tales of vampiric witches, Frankenstein and werewolves and ended. Until the network decided to take a red hot poo on this franchise by attaching it to this TURD of a story. Even HBO’ new Perry Mason rescued the holy rollers angle but the rest of the Nazis are taking over the world is just ridiculous for words.

I'm glad, had absolutely no relevance to the earlier series. Not even sure why it was called, Penny dreadful. The 'paper' back in the day was based on horror stories, like the original but this, was dreadful in a different way.

.. I will say it was hilarious in a few spots.. Nathan Lane trying to play a "grizzled cop".. just miraculously BAD casting. I like Mr Lane, but he just was NOT right for this role.

I seem to be in the minority and really liked this series/show. My condolences to the cast & crew. You all did a great job.

Natalie Dormer was the only reason to watch this, and even that wasn't enough.

Stopped watching after the three free episodes, even though they had a free preview. It was aweful
