HBO announced today that The Vow has been picked up for a second season in 2021. The good news comes two days before the documentary series wraps its freshman run, which received a healthy amount of critical praise for its captivating and gripping storytelling.

The series takes a deep look inside the controversial organization known as NXIVM. Its highest members, including actress Allison Mack and most-notably its founder Keith Raniere, are facing numerous charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

Season 2 of The Vow will be set against the backdrop of the trial again Raniere, who was convicted in 2019 and is currently awaiting sentencing. Viewers will get a look inside Raniere's innermost circle and the organization's top leadership in the United States and Mexico. It will also chronicle the legal and emotional journeys of the group's founders, supporters, and eventual defectors as new evidence and shocking revelations come to light.
