OWN announced today that Cherish the Day has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes seven months after the anthology drama wrapped its freshman run, which was met with a generally favorable reception from both viewers and critics.
Created by Ava DuVernay, Season 1 of the series followed Gently James and Evan Fisher, who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles. Their relationship is chronicled over a five-year span, with each episode spanning a single day that reveals significant moments in their life together. Season 2 will feature a brand new cast, and will follow the key moments in the relationship of a different couple.
"Our Cherish the Day audience embraced and applauded the evolution of a Black couple building a life together in our first season, and we can't wait to bring another story of love and connection to the small screen," said DuVernay. "Everyone here at ARRAY Filmworks is so pleased to continue our exploration of romance day by day alongside our partners at Warner Bros. and OWN."
Look for Season 2 of Cherish the Day in 2021.
