The sci-fi thriller will not return for Season 2.

It is being reported that Fox has cancelled neXt. The sad news comes just three episodes into the sci-fi thriller's run, though the move does not come as a complete surprise.
The show was originally targeted for a summer run but was moved to October to help shore up the network's Fall lineup, which was affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Soft ratings through its first few weeks sealed its fate, as it was averaging just a 0.3 in its 9:00pm time slot among adults 18-49.
neXt follows a Silicon Valley pioneer who discovers that the powerful artificial intelligence he created has gone rogue, and realizes it could lead to a global catastrophe. Teaming up with a cybercrime agent, the two begin a fight against an enemy unlike anything ever seen.
Fox is expected to air all of the show's remaining seven episodes in their regular time slot beginning Tuesday, November 17.

Sad to read this is being canceled--I like the show! Whatever happened to exec's giving a show a chance?? So disgusted that channels only give shows 3 episodes.

great show but it was cancelled because it gave people something to think about and when they realised it informed people what was going on in the world it was pulled

I was thinking the same thing, Khelben. "I wait until it gets a second season?" How can it get a second season if tons of people are doing this? What a terrible strategy.

What??? FOX canceled a sci-fi show? I'm shocked. Good thing different exec's were in charge back then or X-Files would have been cancelled 3 episodes in.

This was somewhat enjoyable sci-fi, with an already overdone premise. However, it would have probably been a better fit for FXX, and I don't think it would have made the broadcast network if not for the current COVID-based content shortage.

I thought that next had possibility,but because it was a little technical for some people and for FOX TV bigwigs.
So, PLEASE!!! NO Dancing with stars or singing with the stars or mask-wearing idiots singing and prancing, it is so lame to watch and hear about!!!
Get some good Action Sci-fi TV series Going!

So many people saying "I don't watch a show until there is at least 2 seasons"… Gee, I wonder why so many shows are cancelled during a first season that nobody watches…

My Dad was just telling me about this show last week and said he thought I'd like it. I asked him what network and when he said FOX I told him I don't watch anything new from FOX until it is renewed as I've been burned by them too many times canceling shows early or with cliffhangers etc... Just told him it happened again.
