No Season 2 for the novel-based drama.
November 10, 2020
It is being reported that HBO will not be ordered a second season of The Outsider. The news comes eight months after the drama wrapped its freshman run, which garnered mostly positive reviews.
It is not clear why the cable network declined to proceed with Season 2. The series fared pretty well during its 10-episode run, ranking as HBO's most-watched debut show in the past three years. Its audience grew from 1.2 million at the outset to 2.2 million for the finale. Word is that producer MRC will shop the series to other outlets for a potential Season 2.
Based on Stephen King's best-selling novel of the same name, The Outsider follows the seemingly-straightforward investigation into the brutal murder of a young boy that turns mysterious when a supernatural force permeates the case. This leads a veteran cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe in.

Yeah, the Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey dark tower was horrible I read all of the books and there is so much to the story that you don’t even get to see in that stupid movie I can’t believe Stephen King signed out on it because most of the other movies based on his books are right to a T.

I watched about half the season then lost interest. I see that many mitigate its finish citing a "limited series". When profit is involved the "limited series" label has no bearing.

Great show !!! Does not need a second season unless Stephen King wrote a sequel book no one knows about.

Ahhh...so nice to be put in the “old crowd”. I never said ruined...yes... degrading at times...but not ruined. I turn the channel instead of losing some brain cells at some shows. I like HBO’s The Undoing”, but STARZ often has better shows in some time slots. Just my opinion.

I think everyone agrees that sometimes a limited series is way better than a drawn out mess of a second season.
The okay boomer line was probably aimed at the angry old person who thinks that off the wall shows (which have been around since the 16th century) are ruining the country somehow.

I liked this show.Hopefully there will be a second season somewhere as long as they don't ruin it like Penny Dreadful with their PC bull.

The show was sooooo good in the beginning, then rushed and messy at the end. I don't know why there would be a season 2 unless it would have been a completely different story. I was kinda disappointed.

Thank you, HBO. This should have been a LIMITED series. The book ended. Shame on the writers for trying to make it into a series. HBO, if you want a Stephen King series, fix the errors made in the Matthew McConaughey/Idris Elba movie and make The Dark Tower a series!

Does no one seem to get that this show was based on a book and they reached the end of the book already?

@ lmaoo - How exactly does ok boomer relate to the cancelling of this show? Oh yea, it doesn't.
