The animated comedy scores an early pickup.
April 5, 2021
Paramount+ announced today that Star Trek: Lower Decks has been renewed for a third season. The pickup is an early one, coming well ahead of the animated comedy's sophomore run, which is slated for this summer.
The series, which premiered with a two-season order last year on CBS All Access, is the first animated entry in the franchise in over 40 years; the only other being 1973's "Star Trek: The Animated Series". Critics have generally enjoyed the show, noting its comedic approach offers a fun, albeit safe, take on the Star Trek universe.
Star Trek: Lower Decks follows the U.S.S. Cerritos, one of Starfleet's least important ships. Residing in its lower decks are the support crew who strive to keep up with their duties and their social lives while the ship is being hit by any number of anomalies.

βA fun, albeit safe, take on the Star Trek universe.β I was never aware Star Trek was dangerous viewing.

Hey Tr-etard, definitely finish reading the post before you get keyboard happy. And for something as pathetic as what you wrote, that shouldβve been your first hint to stop typing. Get out of your moms basement, buddy

Uhhhhh....itβs the 2nd animated entry into the franchise. Show some respect for the TOS: Animated Series.
