Amazon announced today that Invincible has been picked up for two additional seasons, taking it through Season 3. The good news comes ahead of the animated drama's freshman finale this Friday.

The show premiered in late March with the release of its first three episodes. The remaining episodes have been doled out one at a time on a weekly basis. Critics and viewers have both had high praise for the series, appreciating its faithful adaptation of the source material as well as its all-star cast.

Based on the comic book from Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who is pretty much like most guys his age with one exception - his father is Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on Earth. With Mark now developing his own powers, he starts realizing that his dad's legacy may not be as heroic as he thought.
