BET announced today that Tyler Perry's House of Payne has been renewed for a ninth season. At the same time, the cable network set a premiere date for Season 8 of the comedy, which returns later this month.
Originally premiering in 2006 on TBS, the series was cancelled after six seasons and had been off the air for eight years before being revived by BET with its original cast intact.
Tyler Perry's House of Payne follows retired fire chief Curtis Payne and his wife Ella living with their family in one house in suburban Atlanta, Georgia. Picking up five years after the show left off, the family continues to navigate life's problems with their quirky modern-day clan.
Season 8 premieres on Tuesday, May 25 at 9:00pm.
