The comedy will be back for Season 2.
May 10, 2021
Fox announced today that Call Me Kat has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes just over a month after the Mayim Bialik comedy wrapped its freshman run, which ended up drawing mixed reviews. Viewership was strong though, as it ranked as one of the season's top new comedies.
The half-hour series stars Bialik as a 39-year-old single woman who struggles every day against society to prove that she can live a fulfilling life on her own. Which is why she spent all her savings to open a cat café in Louisville, Kentucky. But her plans for independence hit a snag when her former crush and good friend returns to town and works as a bartender at the piano bar across the street.
Today's renewal comes with word that showrunner Darlene Hunt will be stepping down moving forward, with a replacement yet to be named. Look for Season 2 of Call Me Kat as part of the 2021-2022 television season.
I used to be a huge Mayim Bialik fan but after watching a few episodes of this show it has diminished my opinion of her. This could be one of those career choices that kills a promising career. I just don't see her coming out of a 2nd season with a career left.
P.S. Has anyone seen the waving at the end of the shows??? OMG. It's like they are begging for laughs or attention. I feel humiliated for them... Mayim should quit now before she loses what's left of her career!!!!!
Mayim, you're better than that.
Just kidding. Please watch old vaudeville shows to understand why Call Me Kat is cheesy. Thank you, and goodnight.
Like others have said - this is the worst comedy in years. I am a Mayim Bialik fan but this show is just sad and uncomfortable to watch. The waving at the end makes me feel ashamed for Mayim. I feel like they are begging for laughs or simpathy. So pitiful. This show just might erase a lot of Mayim's fan base. It is that bad! I hope it gets cancelled for her sake. She is a "10" actress but this show is a "1" and is damaging her reputation.
