'Coroner' Renewed For Season 4

The Canadian drama will return in 2021-2022.

Canada's CBC has announced that Coroner has been picked up for a fourth season. The drama, which airs on The CW for US audiences, will return to televisions up north for the 2021-2022 season with 12 new episodes.

For stateside viewers, Season 3 of the series doesn't premiere until August, and it will likely be sometime until The CW confirms if it will continue to air Season 4 next year.

The hour-long procedural follows mother and recent widow Dr. Jenny Cooper, who has just been appointed coroner in Toronto, tasked with investigating suspicious, sudden, or unnatural deaths. With help from a homicide detective, a pathologist, and her assistant, Jenny utilizes her intuition and intellect to solve tough cases.

I think the medical stories are the lesser parts of the drama. Rather, I find the internal wrestling with personal issues to be fascinating. The mysteries surrounding the deaths provide framework and context for the principals' personal journeys. I'm looking forward to Season 4 and thrilled with the extra episodes!

The description of this show doesn't really do it justice. It's not just "another coroner show." The acting, the script writing,and the way it's filmed are all very unique. It has a distinctly "not Hollywood" feel and look to it. I could tell right away when I first watched the pilot episode that it had a distinctly Canadian style. Great to see them adding a few more episodes again next season, too!
