No Season 3 for the musical dramedy.
June 9, 2021
It is being reported that NBC has cancelled Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist after two seasons. The sad news comes less than a month following the musical dramedy's sophomore finale, with its May 16 episode now serving as its series ender.
The show premiered as a mid-season entry in 2020 and it won its share of fans who appreciated its quirky musical format. Critics took to the series as well, giving it mostly-positive feedback. Unfortunately its niche audience was limited in size, and its overall viewership was not enough to warrant a third season.
There had been rumors circulating recently that the show could be moved to the network's streaming platform, Peacock, but nothing ended up materializing on that front. Producer Lionsgate Television, for its part, will be shopping the series around to hopefully find it a new home elsewhere.
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist follows a tech worker in San Francisco who experiences an unusual event that allows her to hear people's innermost thoughts and desires through songs. This initially makes her question her own sanity, but pretty soon she realizes that this unwanted ability may just be a wonderful gift.

No! Another really good show gone. I was really hoping they would explain how the ending happened. Why are all the decent shows cancelled but they keep all the crap.
Guess they need another Chicago show.
BOO NBC

This is a show that was great in the first season. Had a great satisfying ending. It should have ended there. It sat with you for a while and made you think and feel.
2nd season felt a bit more labored. I actually think Zoey started to become a bit of an unlikable character.
For sure like how each season had a story arch that did end in a logical place. We were never really left with a big cliffhanger.
Ah well

Talented cast--I'm sure they'll show up somewhere else. I knew it was done for when the star had to keep lobbying people to vote for the show to be renewed.
