The sci-fi spin-off will air into at least 2023.
September 8, 2021
Paramount+ announced this evening that Star Trek: Picard has been picked up for a third season. The early renewal comes on Star Trek Day, which also confirmed that the sci-fi drama will return for its sophomore run in early 2022.
The series is one of three entries in the storied franchise currently airing on the streaming service; the other two being 'Star Trek: Discovery' and the animated 'Star Trek: Lower Decks'.
Picard takes place 20 years after the events that occurred in 2002's 'Star Trek: Nemesis' film. With life in the galaxy vastly different since the dissolution of the Romulan Empire, retired admiral Jean-Luc Picard embarks on the next chapter of his life.
Star Trek: Picard is slated to return for Season 2 in February 2022. Look for Season 3 sometime in 2023.

Update: Welp, my comment did not age well. Season 2 was so bad. Just...there is a beautiful and poignant way to address mental health, but this was NOT it. Nope!

They really need to get these episodes out there - Patrick Stewart is not getting any younger....
((that sounds like a jab, it is not. I love Sir Patrick and I love Star Trek, I truly want to make sure we get more of this before he decides to retire for good!!!))
yeah right

Like I'm gonna trust the guy who was in Fish about what makes good television.
Star Trek is great right now. A lot of people forget the nadir that was most of Voyager and the first two seasons of Enterprise.

@Jim, they brought back Q? Can Quark be far behind?

They renewed this crap. Not as bad as DIS but a close second.

Honestly, not impressed by all that went on in Season 01. It was a little lack luster. Don't get me wrong. I am not asking for more flash bang action scenes. Dude is in his 70s or 80s. Drama is all that could be expected. I wanted a more intelligent and poignant drama than what we got. I will watch it anyway, if for nothing than to discuss it online, but its not like I am jumping on my seat in anticipation.

The first season was a good drama. Enjoyable and fun. If you get any sci fy series you are lucky. Few last beyond one season. Trek fans expect too much. I expect a decent show and that is enough

Season 1 was pretty good until the very end of the last episode. The end sucked. I'm not very happy about Q coming back. We'll see what happens with season 3.

Awesome! I'm glad there won't be a long wait between seasons 2 and 3. Waiting until 2022 has been rough.

Season 1 took a while to get moving (there should have been a few episodes to cover the years between Nemesis and the present, as I'm still not sure what the hell happened), but by mid-season I was engaged. Looking forward to Season 2. And 3.
